Cindy Garcia

Director of Finance

Year I joined IP: 2022

What I bring to IP: My experience with non-profit accounting and willingness to learn! Prior to joining Intentional Philanthropy, I oversaw the Finance department at the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation in Baltimore, MD. During my time there, I was able to jump in wherever I’m needed, from doing the day-to-day data entry to financial analysis, to completing the annual audit and 990 tax schedules.

What I love most about my work: Working with so many great people and clients that do amazing work for the community! I’m able to support our client services team and clients in achieving their goals in making a difference in the community.

What I am most excited about learning right now: Investments. I’m looking forward to deepening my knowledge of investments and investment accounting and how it can help strengthen the foundation’s finances to ensure they can impact the communities for years to come.

What I do in a typical week: It varies! Typically, with accounting, the day-to-day tasks can get monotonous but here at Intentional Philanthropy, one day I could be reconciling or reviewing various accounts, and another I could be running financials, or entering invoices to be paid.

What I do when I’m not working: I’m trying to keep up with my daughter, reading, watching tv, or working on honing my embroidery skills.
